Around 2002, I started to take pictures with my first digital camera (HP Photosmart 715) and from that time on I was hooked on photography. The best part of it is to see the results directly on the computer. Amazing how much detail those little bugs show in close-up. From that point on, I wanted to take more and more pictures of those small insects, so I replaced my first camera with a HP Photosmart 850 (which, unfortunately, did not last long). But, my interest was more and more focused on the very tiny insects, so a year later I bought a Canon 350D with a macrolens. Previously, I was a little scared about most of those insects, but when you look at them close up, most are just beautiful. From that time on, I started to see them through different eyes. It is just incredible that there are so many different insects in such a small garden. Most of the time, it isn't easy to keep all those insects apart. I still regularly see an (for me) unknown insect. Some insects look almost the same externally and then it is difficult to give them the right name. So, if you see a name that's wrong,......, or if you know the right name, please let me know. Not everybody likes these tiny little insects, so for them there is also a page "Et cetera". Here you can find pictures from our vacations, zoos and other photo's. My husband Peter took the photo at the upper left, while I was taking a picture of the red panda. Below that, you can see the result. (Click on photo for enlargement). If you are interested in the equipment I use, click here. The Canon 350D was succeeded with the Canon 400D. And in 2011 I replaced the 400D with the Canon 60D. Have fun looking around my site. Greetings, Trudy Riool |
